Care and Comfort

Care and Comfort Ministry

Comfort Ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God
Isaiah 40:1

Carry each other's burden's, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2

The body of Christ has been called to comfort others. God has designed us, equipped us, and uses us to ease the burdens of its individual members and fellow believers.

As a ministry of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Care and Comfort Ministry will minister to members of this church who have experienced the death of a loved one. Grieving the death of a loved one is a painful and personal experience that extends well beyond the funeral service. Grief is hard work. The real work of grieving begins after the funeral service. Care and Comfort Ministry will:

  • Communicate with the grieving family both before and after the funeral.
  • Provide on going support after the funeral by periodically checking on the family, home visitations offering comfort and support with our silent presence, listening with compassion.

In the process of grieving and rebuilding it is helpful to seek the care, comfort, and support of someone who understands the journey of life after loss.

Care and comfort Ministry is staffed by a certified grief counselor, Sis. Shaunta Jenkins. Our office hours are Monday and Wednesday 10 a.m. - Noon, or upon request. We offer a number of resources and books on coping with grief and loss.
